Face & Neck

Face, Neck and Temporal Lift

In time, gravity, sun exposure, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces: deep creases appear beside the mouth, the jaw line slackens, and folds and fat deposits appear on the neck. Facelifts counteract these problems by removing fat and tightening skin and muscles, giving your face a fresher, youthful look. Incisions are made in inconspicuous places such as behind the hairline. “Volume enhancement” using your own fat or other fillers, is the latest trend in potential non surgical face lift that can be considered.

A neck lift is performed to remove excess fat beneath the chin and tighten loose skin in the neck. Best combine with facelift, the procedure can produce dramatic results in the patient whose chin and/or neck has sagged with age or after weight loss. Temporal lift can be a part of this face lift or as minor independent procedure. Mini lift or new suture (thread) lifts are gaining popularity in younger and appropriate patients.

Suture Lift

The Suture Lift is a minimally invasive facial rejuvenating procedure that will immediately rejuvenate a tired, or ageing face through the introduction of nonabsorbable, medical threads por sutures. Over time the skins texture, elasticity and clarity can all change from the effects of sun damage and normal ageing. In the past the only option for rejuvenating the face has been either a ‘face-lift’, or ‘laser resurfacing’, both of which involve restrictive amounts of ‘down time’ for a lengthy healing process.
The Suture Lift is ideally suited for both men and women whose skin tone has become lax over time with normal ageing, and or from sun damage. Each patient is individually assessed for suitability and their concerns. If you are unhappy with loose, wrinkled or drooping skin to the cheeks, jowls, corners of the mouth and neck, the Suture Lift may benefit you.

The ideal patients for this procedure are those who are not yet ready for a ‘full face-lift’, or those who have previously had a ‘face-lift’ and just want to improve any residual loose or drooping areas that remain or have sagged again over time. It is also appropriate for someone who does not wish to have an invasive procedure that may produce scarring such as a conventional ‘surgical full face-lift’.
Suture Lift considerations verses conventional face-lift Advantages:

  • Less invasive
  • Skin procedure only
  • Reversible & adjustable
  • Quick recovery time
  • Very low risk of nerve damage
  • No outward signs of scarring

It is important to discuss you concerns with your physician before deciding if the suture lift is right for you.

Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. It may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient’s field of vision. The procedure is usually performed in an office with local anesthesia in as little as 45 minutes. Blepharoplasty can be combined with a facelift or BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow’s feet or dark circles under the eyes.

Some Asians like wider upper lid crease or ‘double fold’ to make the eyes look bigger. This is termed Asian blepharoplasty or supratarsal fixation.

One of the most common plastic surgery procedures, Rhinoplasty is performed to reshape, reduce or augment a nasal bridge, remove a hump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, or to correct injury, birth defects, or other problems that affect breathing. Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure performed under either local or IV Sedation and lasts one to two hours.

Lip Enhancement

Full and vivacious lips have always been recognized as aesthetically important features. Some of us, however, are born with thin, ill-defined lips, or our lips lose their fullness with age. But the appearance of our lips is now within our control. Fine lines and wrinkles, thin lips and a drooping corner of the mouth are all areas that can be aided with injectable fillers like Juvederm, Collagen or by using your own fat called fat transfer. The market is ever changing, with new products appearing rapidly. Soft implants are now available. Patient care is individualized to provide safe and effective treatment options.

Browlifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, the muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as Blepharoplasty and Facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face.

Otoplasty or ear surgery for children or adults can help to set prominent ears back closer to the head and reduce the size of large ears. Surgery may also be helpful for “lop ear,” “cupped ear” and “shell ear,” large or stretched earlobes, and lobes with creases and wrinkles. The procedure lasts from one to three hours and can be performed in office-based facility or an outpatient surgery center under IV Sedation or local anesthesia. This surgery not only improves the shape of the ears but most importantly, provides the patient with better self esteem and a better self image.

Dermabrasion removes a layer of surface skin to improve the appearance of facial scarring due to acne, chicken pox, injury or other causes, as well as uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, sun damage, tattoos, age spots and certain kinds of skin lesions. The skin is cooled, typically with a spray, and then abraded with a high-speed rotary instrument for a dramatically smoother, fresher look. After the procedure,  it is normal to feel a sensation similar to sunburn for a week or so, at which time most patients are able to return to work. The newly revealed skin will likely appear pinker than usual for two to three months. Patients should be sure to adequately protect skin from sunlight.

Hair Transplant

Customized treatment plans for individual patients using the latest techniques and technology make it possible to successfully compensate for thinning hair or baldness. During a hair transplant, thin strips of skin containing hair are taken from the back of the scalp and placed in tiny holes in the bald or thinned area. The grafted hair falls out after the procedure but then grows back and should last as long as the hair from the area in which it was taken.

Facial Implants

Facial implants consist of the nasal, chin and lip implants. They are designed to enhance the structure of the face and to add fullness and definition to the face.

Nasal implants are designed to improve the appearance of the nose and is involved in the perception of what is beautiful or handsome. Because it is centrally located on the face, the nose deformity or size of the nose is readily apparent and contributes to one’s self-image. Enhancing, reshaping or redefining the nose can improve this image. A nasal implant can help to add a bridge to the nose and reshape the nose to make it aesthetically appealing.

Lip implants or lip augmentation are designed to enhance the lip, adding fullness and definition. Sensual lips are a key element of almost every photo in many magazines and other advertisements. Implants may be the answer for people who may not wish to use injectable fillers in the lip and want a more permanent fix.

Chin implants are often used in combination with Rhinoplasty or surgery of the nose or can be used alone. Adding a chin implant may help to balance the features of the face and change the dynamics of the face and help to build a better profile.

It is important to discuss your concerns with your physician to determine which facial implant will better enhance your facial features.
